Josiah Santos Memorial Education Fund

In honor of Josiah Santos, we invite you to support the Josiah Santos Memorial Education Fund, created to celebrate his passion for the arts and his belief in the power of storytelling to change lives. Josiah’s boundless creativity, compassion, and dedication to theatre inspired everyone who had the privilege of working with him. By donating to this fund, you help ensure that his legacy continues—opening doors for aspiring theatre students who share his love for performance, collaboration, and self-expression. Your contribution not only keeps Josiah’s spirit alive but also nurtures the next generation of artists who will bring light, empathy, and imagination to our communities.

THIS SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORS STUDENTS OF FLOWING WELLS HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPATING IN ARTS EXPRESS THEATRE EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

Josiah Santos was the Salutatorian of his graduating class at Flowing Wells High School in 2022.  He continued his education at the University of Arizona, where he was completing his senior year, majoring in Theater and minoring in Japanese.  A gifted musician and performer, Josiah's talents knew no bounds.  Since the summer of 2023, Josiah was cast in the productions of Anastasia, Catch Me if You Can, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Fiddler on the Roof.  His performance of Motel the Tailor in Fiddler on the Roof was brilliant, with audience members citing how "Miracle of Miracles" lit up the room.  In September of 2025, Josiah was cast as Specs in AET's upcoming production of Newsies.  While we will never see him perform that role, his family has asked to honor Josiah by planting seeds for his legacy to live on in our community through this scholarship fund.
University of Arizona students Josiah Santos, his dear girlfriend Sophia Troetel and friend Katya Castillo-Mendoza died as victims of a tragic hit and run by an impaired driver on October 30, 2025. We share our deepest sympathy with his family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
