    BEHIND THE SCENES: Peking Acrobats

    Experience the power of the arts with the Behind the Scenes – Broadway and More program.  Learn first-hand how Broadway actors and other world-class artists made it to the top, what life is like on the road or how the production team creates “magic” on the stage. Provided in collaboration with Broadway in Tucson and UApresents, this day-long package includes a theatre workshop with a standout professional artist, lunch/dinner, a behind the scenes look at the show’s production and admission to the show!

    Step into the shoes of this world-renowned acrobatics troupe and learn the basic skills behind their gravity defying feats of strength and skill. You’ll be swept off your feet!

    Embracing 2,000 year old athletic disciplines, The Peking Acrobats are ambassadors of China’s folk arts. Carefully selected from the country’s top acrobatic schools, these gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers have entranced the world for almost 50 years with their grace and precision, offering a performance that will mystify the whole family. Utilizing contortion, balancing acts and a variety of feats of strength and poise, they put on a show that audiences of all ages will love. After all, wonderment and appreciation know no age!

    Can you walk a tightrope?  As a mime, you CAN – without even leaving the ground!  Learn basic miming skills –climb a ladder, swim underwater, walk a tightrope, ride a bike and more.  Sounds like fun? It is! Please bring a sense of humor and your imagination.

Meet and mingle with fun people and find out how Arts Express is building a better community through the arts! Join the movement as a volunteer! Sponsor a child to attend summer camp!  Tell us more about YOUR organization and discuss ways to collaborate! These are some of the ways that YOU can make a HUGE difference in the lives of Southern Arizona youth.

    WHERE: Madden Media, 345 E Toole Ave in the Historic MacArthur Building – Downtown Tucson (On East Toole across from the Historic Train Depot). Please enter at the East Toole Ave door entrance through the iron gates.

    Parking: There are several parking structures including, for a fee, (1) underground Depot Garage off of 5th Ave and Toole; (2) Pennington Street Garage, above Café Poca Cosa on Pennington and Scott, and (3) El Centro Garage off of the Broadway underpass west. Of course all the metered parking is free after 5:00 pm and is all around the area.
